10 Reasons To Visit The Beautiful Space Needle In Seattle

The Seattle skyline is recognizable thanks to the infamous Space Needle. It is not an exaggeration to say this landmark completes the city. The Space Needle is a must-see fixture on your next trip to the Emerald City. The structure is one of a kind, with views of the Pacific Northwest and Puget Sound.

1. Take Pictures

We loved taking pictures at the Space Needle in Seattle. Our favorite snapshots came from our polaroid. We had so much fun taking these pictures and waiting the couple of minutes to see how they turned out. Even in the gloomy Seattle weather they turned out amazing!

2. An Excuse To Ride The Monorail

If you need a lift to the Space Needle, it might make sense to ride the Seattle Monorail. This reminded me of the monorail at Disneyland except this one cuts through a metropolitan area.

3. The Space Needle Completes The Seattle Skyline

Anytime our airplane begins its descent, I look for the Space Needle. In my mind, that is how I know I have made it to Seattle. It has become the focal point of the Seattle Skyline I have come to love.

4. See Seattle From 520 Feet High

The Space Needle has its iconic observation deck over 500 feet in the air. You literally see the city from all new heights. The views span all over Queen Anne, the Puget Sound, and more.

5. Look Over Skyscrapers

The Space Needle stares at other tall structures. You have views of the skyscrapers downtown that paint an architectural backdrop.

6. Watch Over The Sound

Just about one hundred and eighty degrees of the Puget Sound live beside the Space Needle. You have views of the water with boats cruising by and the Port of Seattle in the distance.

7. Say Hi To Mount Rainer

Clear days vary in Seattle. If you are lucky to see a beautiful, clear Seattle day, you should also see Mount Rainier. The snow crusted tip pierces the sky.

8. Look Through The Binoculars

Interested in seeing more details throughout Seattle? Check out the city through a different lens. There are binoculars along the observation deck so you can check out different aspects of this incredible city.

9. Eat While Rotating Over Seattle

There is a restaurant in the Space Needle! The Loupe Lounge is made up of a glass floor overlooking over 500 feet of Seattle. The lounge rotates so you can enjoy a cocktail without ever having to leave your seat to see the views.

10. Buy Souvenirs

The Space Needle has incredible shopping on the main level. There are souvenirs of Seattle and the Space Needle specifically. We have bought so many fun trinkets because we fell in love with this special spot.

The 10 Best Reasons To Visit Pike Place Market In Seattle

Pike Place Market quickly became one of my favorite places. When you can go to one location with a bunch of stuff to do, it is like hitting the jackpot. Where else in the world can you see grown men throwing fish across the room? The vibrant flowers welcome you as you enjoy a cup of macaroni and cheese or an original Starbucks drink. Pike Place Market in Seattle officially has it all.

Before You Go

One thing we loved about Seattle is the photo opportunities. We bought a polaroid before our trip. It was a fun accessory all weekend as we snapped memorable pictures.

1. Take Pictures

Pike Place Market in Seattle has an abundance of beautiful backdrops. We snuck behind the Original Starbucks and Beecher’s to Post Alley. We loved taking snaps in front of the brick landscape.

The most popular places to take pictures at Pike Place Market remains to be their famous signs. As you approach the market, you are sure to see the famous Public Market Center sign or the Public Market sign.

2. The Public Market Center Sign

The Public Market Center sign lives at the entrance of the market. Just below the sign you might see fish flying through the air. The is easily my favorite sight at Pike Place Market in Seattle.

3. The Public Market Sign

Another notable sight is the Public Market sign. When at the right angle, this sign overlooks the Puget Sound.

4. The Fish Throwing

This tradition is famous to Pike Place Market in Seattle. When you first walk through the doors, you may see it for yourself. The staff throw customer’s purchases, yes fish, across the showroom in a dramatic spectacle.

5. The Vibrant Flowers

There are rows of beautiful and bright flowers at Pike Place Market. As you walk the halls, check out the variety of blossoms for sale.

6. The Original Starbucks

Starbucks has become a legend. They are everywhere and seem to be popping up more now than ever. Well, everyone has to start somewhere. This monstrosity of a business started at Pike Place Market. You can visit the Original Starbucks. Beware – this place will be bustling, with people taking pictures and wanting to order drinks.

7. The Best Macaroni and Cheese

Have you ever seen how cheese is made? You might be thinking – um, I never thought about it. Well, at Beecher’s Homemade Cheese, you can enjoy a snack while watching it be made. This spot at Pike Place Market is a MUST try. The cheese will pleasure every single taste bud.

What’s more, you can eat your snack as you continue to walk around. Every time I visit Seattle, I forgo breakfast to ensure I have room for this amazing macaroni and cheese. After checking out the window where the cheese is made, I grab Beecher’s macaroni and cheese for a snack. I love walking around the area while enjoying my treat. You can stop into Post Alley or check out the other surrounding shops.

See over 3000 reviews of Beecher’s Homemade Cheese on YELP!

We love Beecher’s!

8. The Gum Wall

Make sure you buy your Hubba Bubba before visiting! Start chewing your gum now so it will be ready to leave your mark on Seattle. The Gum Wall is located in an alleyway just next to Pike Place Market. You will walk the gum stained walls to hopefully take pictures and leave your own piece behind.

I do not go anywhere without Beecher’s!

9. Von’s 1000 Spirits

Walking around Seattle can be exhausting. If you are needing a quick bite or maybe even a cocktail, be sure to check out Von’s 1000 Spirits. This restaurant and bar is a short walk (approximately a quarter mile) from Pike Place Market.

I have recommended Von’s 1000 Spirits to all of my friends that have traveled to Seattle. Each of them have come back raving about how amazing this place is. The food is delicious, and when on happy hour can be extra affordable. The cocktails are top notch – especially if you get a deal from the famous drink wheel!

7+ Of The Best Seattle Bars You Must Drink At

I love Seattle. My ultimate dream is to move to Seattle, with a dog named Seattle, while wearing my I Heart Seattle shirt (yes, I bought one). While that may sound a bit excessive, I made my point clear. I cherish every moment I get to spend in this beautiful city. Many of my favorite memories center around good food and drinks. I am so excited to share with you my all-time favorite spots to drink delicious cocktails and make unforgettable memories. These are my favorite bars in Seattle that absolutely must drink at.

If You Are In Queen Anne

1. Queen Anne Beer Hall

The exterior of Queen Anne Beer Hall

Queen Anne is the area near the Space Needle, north of Downtown Seattle. We wandered into Queen Anne Beer Hall after getting engaged at Kerry Park. Eeeek!

See more of Queen Anne Beer Hall on their website.

With all of the excitement, we fell in love with this spot. It reminded us of Oktoberfest with the rows of tables. We ordered a few bottles of champagne for celebrating and some small bites. Our friends loved the food and drinks. They raved about how cool of a place it was to hang out. We look forward to visiting again.

Check out Queen Anne Beer Hall on YELP!

If You Are In Capital Hill

One of my favorite memories is skipping along the rainbow crosswalks in Capital Hill. This part of the city also boasts some of the most unique and memorable bars in Seattle.

2. Unicorn

The exterior of Unicorn

Unicorn is such a fun atmosphere. From the animal heads to the wall, to the zebra print booths, you are in for a unconventional experience. The menu is incredible and sure to make you smile. Each drink is unique in its own way.

Check out Unicorn on YELP!

The Cereal Killer at Unicorn

I ordered The Cereal Killer, which is essentially a fruit loops infused vodka drink that sent me into a sugar crash and heaven all at the same time. All of the items on the menu are fun and sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Find out more about Unicorn on their website.

Fun Fact: Macklemore’s hit Thrift Shop was partially filmed in Unicorn. Check it out!

3. Redhook Brewlab

Redhook Brewlab is located located in the Pike Motorworks Building. According to its website, this pub was established in 2017 and is still running with the excitement of a brand new establishment. During one of our trips to Seattle, we went to Redhook Brewlab four different times. Yes, four.

Check out Redhook Brewlab on YELP!

The Rosé Apple Cider at Redhook Brewlab

Each time we stopped in, the facility was full of happy patrons sipping on an IPA or eating a pizza. I was loyal to the rosé apple cider that had a higher than usual ABV (alcohol by volume) at 6.2%. The Redhook Brewlab was consistently high energy and a great atmosphere.

4. Hula Hula

We stopped by Hula Hula as we were walking around Capitol Hill. After our table ordered a round of fruity cocktail drinks, we took in the atmosphere. With your typical Hawaiian tropical aesthetic, it does not feel like you are in the middle of a bar in Seattle.

Drinking at Hula Hula

As an added bonus, Hula Hula is a proud karaoke bar. So, if you are on vacation and that is your thing, the mic is ready for you!

Check out Hula Hula on YELP or visit their website for more.

If You Are On Pike

5. Yard House

Yard House is a national chain, but that does not mean it should be omitted from this list. After walking around Seattle, doesn’t a cold beer sound good? The photo below shows a half yard sized Angry Orchard. You have several food options, from bar food to more sophisticated restaurant cuisine. We ordered bites for the table and loved each of the selections.

Fun Fact: My friends and I watched Super Bowl 53 at the Yard House. During the start of the game, it started snowing outside! We ran outside and had an absolute blast seeing the beautiful city get painted white with snow.

6. Elysian Fields

Elysian Fields Brewing Company

Elysian Brewing Company, also known as Elysian Fields, is local to Seattle. As a Seattle lover, I still get starstruck when I see Elysian Fields on tap in California and other states.

This restaurant and bar is located directly across the street from Century Link Field. On game day, this is the place to be. We stopped in following a Mariners game and were shoulder to shoulder at the bar. While they are well known for their beers, they do have a full bar for whatever your desired taste may be.

Check out Elysian Fields on YELP

There is bleacher seating along one of the walls. My friend convinced us to sit there and it was a blast. We loved the different experience sitting with friends and view of the televisions with sports.

7. Sluggers

Sluggers is nestled across the street from Century Link Field in Seattle. We had the pleasure of watching the Seahawks in a playoff game from this bar. It is a good thing the Seahawks were playing an away game or this would have been one of the busiest bars in Seattle.

We came back on another trip to Seattle and loved sitting in the booths sipping our drinks. There is always sports on the televisions and the bar food is a necessity for watching a game.

3 Decadent Seattle Restaurants That Are The Best

This city has so many places to eat and drink I will never have a chance to try them all. I have, however, found 3 spots that I am absolutely obsessed with. These 3 restaurants in Seattle are ones that I visit every time I am in town. I am obsessed. And, I am sharing my secrets. With that, here is my list of 3 decadent restaurants in Seattle that are the best. No, really.

1. Elliot’s Oyster House

The exterior of Elliott's Oyster House
The exterior of Elliott’s Oyster House

Every time I have been to Seattle I have gone to Elliott’s Oyster House. That is how good this place is. Right on the water, this restaurant serves the best clam chowder overlooking the water. The Puget Sound is your neighbor at Elliott’s Oyster House. The waterfront surrounds you as you have your choice in fresh seafood.

Check out Elliot’s Oyster House on YELP!

Pier 56 sits feet away. The Great Wheel is right next door. You are right on the water. You have to order fish where it is fresh! As a table, we usually share an order of oysters. I am not an oyster lover but I will dabble in some here. I stay loyal to the White Clam Chowder and order it every time. It pairs nicely with a mimosa or bloody mary.

2. Von’s 1000 Spirits

Von’s 1000 Spirits is one of the best restaurants in Seattle. My opinion, of course. Though, I expect you will agree with me. Located just a few blocks from Pike Place, this restaurant and bar has such a fun atmosphere. Not to mention, their drinks are sure to satisfy your cravings.

The Prickly Pear Mojito on the patio of Von's 1000 Spirits

I have tried almost every dish on the happy hour menu and cannot recommend their food enough times. Each dish was incredible and can be shared amongst friends. The drinks are reasonably priced and excellent. I have had everything from a mojito, bloody mary, margarita, mystery shot, and more!

The Bloody Mary at Von’s 1000 Spirits
The Bloody Mary at Von’s 1000 Spirits

My favorite part of going to Von’s 1000 Spirits is the giant wheel that gets spun every hour. Whatever deal the wheel lands on applies to everyone in the bar for the next hour. It is a fun event for the person spinning and everyone else getting to reap the drink benefits for the next hour. Some of the deals listed on the wheel are: $4 mystery shots, $6.50 moscow mule, or $6 bartender’s choice. I cheated a teensy bit with the wheel since I wanted the mystery shot. Worth it!

Von’s 1000 Spirits has over 2,000 reviews that are 4.5 stars on YELP!

3. MBar

The rooftop patio at MBar

We first stumbled into MBar in January of 2017. We sat next to a window overlooking the city. That was when my loyalty to MBar began. We shared an Oxtail pasta dish that is no longer on the menu. To be fair, it was 5 years ago. Every time I go back I check if they have it.

MBar, if you are reading this, please bring back the amazing Oxtail pasta dish!

Check out MBar’s website for more information.

Anyways, MBar has an incredible rooftop patio. The 14th floor patio has views of the Space Needle. Need I say more? You have firepits, blankets, cocktails and food on a rooftop patio. Throw in the Space Needle and it does not get any better.

1. Biscuit Bitch

Biscuit Bitch is located a few blocks from Pike Place and is one of the top ranked breakfast spots on Yelp. It has a menu as quirky as its name and is sure to put a smile on your face. I ordered the dish that I related to most: the Smokin’ Hot Bitch. The food has high kudos from the guests, as you will tell by the line out the door.

While this is not a coffee house, the Biscuit Bitch would not be a popular Seattle breakfast spot if it did not offer specialty java selections. There are several options tea and espresso options, as well as adult humored seasonal drinks.

See more about Biscuit Bitch on their website.

2. Mr. West Cafe Bar

Mr. West Cafe Bar has a special charm about it. Located a few blocks from the convention center, this corner spot greets you with greenery, twinkle lights and the smell of morning brew. My group of friends visited on a gloomy February morning and forgot about the grey city upon walking in.

The staff was extremely friendly and clearly took pride in their work. I absolutely loved the hot mocha that I ordered and it was the best start to my morning.

This cozy establishment is not just a spot for you to fuel up your day; you can also wind down with a nice glass of wine and cheese board. As you enjoy your drink of choice, you can look at the different items for sale. We loved looking at the different mementos while waiting for our coffee. Mr. West Coffee Bar turned into one of my favorite coffee shops in Seattle.

3. Anchorhead Coffee Co.

Anchorhead Coffee greets you with colorful shrubbery and is a cute sight. The giant “coffee” sign is a major give away that you are at the right place. Somewhat small, this coffee house was full of locals visiting with one another over steaming coffee and scones.

I chose the Nitro Mint Latte which is outside of my comfort zone. The decision was worth the risk as it was light and refreshing. Some of the other drink options that received high praise from my friends included the Pistachio Matcha and the Spicy Mocha.

4. The Original Starbucks

Starbucks. In Seattle. Surely I do not need to convince you on this one. I do have a different stance on the Original Starbucks. Here it is…

Located in Pike Place, the Original Starbucks is an obvious place to check out if you are in the neighborhood. Take pictures in front and enjoy the thought of what Starbucks has grown into. Now, take a step back and walk away. Do not order coffee from here (unless there is no line).

Let me explain. Each time I have visited, there has been a line out the door. There is always a crowd and frankly, there are 133 other locations in the city selling the exact same coffee. It is a great opportunity to see where a billion dollar company blossomed from, but you should stick to soaking in the moment and get your coffee from down the street.

You are in the city that the company was founded and grew to a global operation, so it should be part of your Seattle experience to sip on a Starbucks beverage to start your day.

5. Caffé D’Arte

Caffé D’Arte’s motto is ‘Whole Latte Love’. That motto is only one of the reasons I love this coffee shop. The coffee creations are good and the experience is a memorable one. Located in Pioneer Square, Caffé D’Arte should be the first stop of your day before touring the Emerald City.

We stopped in Caffé D’Arte twice while in Seattle. The first time we stopped in, we had only been in Seattle for less than an hour. It was my first time in this amazing city and I was awe struck. I was living out my favorite Frasier moments. Coffee Niles?

Check out Caffé D’Arte on their website.

The second time we stopped in, we just so happened to be in the neighborhood. We needed an afternoon pick-me-up before going on a walking tour.
