5 Of The Best Restaurants In Huntington Beach

As a city in Orange County, Huntington Beach is guaranteed to have amazing restaurants. There are spots to check out on Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway. With so many to choose from, you have many options depending on your mood. From rooftop bars to waterfront spots, this list outlines the best restaurants in Huntington Beach with a view!

1. Tanner’s Treehouse

Tanner's Treehouse at night

Disclaimer: This restaurant has a 21+ age requirement.

Located at the Pasea Hotel and Spa, Tanner’s Treehouse is a second story rooftop bar. It is called the treehouse because of the illuminated wicker structure that towers overhead. I was drawn to this spot because of the uniqueness of the tree. Where else can you go to see something like this?

The view of Huntington Beach from the rooftop

We visited Tanner’s Treehouse during the day, too. With the sun overhead, you can see the incredible views. Palm trees and the Pacific Coast Highway are the only things separating you from the beach. I read my book as I waited for friends to show up. It was an amazing way to sip on my cocktail and take in the views.

Are you visiting with kids? Fear not, Tanner’s is family friendly. Even though the two have similar names, the spots are very different. Located on the first level of Pasea Hotel and Spa, Tanner’s has a bar area, indoor seating, and a patio overlooking the beach.

Unlike the rooftop, Tanner’s allows for reservations. You can even indicate if you want to sit inside or outside.

2. Pacific Hideaway

The first morning we woke up in Huntington Beach, we had a reservation at Pacific Hideaway. I found this restaurant online and saw pictures of their braised beef tacos. Of course, I insisted we go. We arrived early in the morning. This was enjoyable because when I am at the beach, I like to get an early start to the day. Not many places are open that early in Surf City USA.

Make your reservation at Pacific Hideaway on Open Table.

We got a little lost trying to find the restaurant. My maps led us to an entrance on Pacific Coast Highway. Note – The entrance to Pacific Hideaway is on 5th Street.

There were a few minutes of rain when we first arrived. Due to the uncertainty, we opted to sit inside. The interior of Pacific Hideaway plays into the beach theme and even opens to the patio. So, even though we did not sit outside, we had the same benefits of looking out.

Visit Pacific Hideaway‘s website for information on hours, menus, and more.

I ordered the braised beef tacos that caught my eye. They were delicious and converted me to slightly liking horseradish now.

We also ordered the Hideaway Hash Benny. It blew the braised beef tacos away and was my favorite meal in Huntington Beach.

3. Bluegold

Located in Pacific City, this restaurant caught my eye with its breakfast menu. Waking up slightly hungover and needing a bite to eat, Bluegold was there for us. The restaurants has views spanning across Huntington Beach where you can see the waves crash into the sand. Bluegold offers reservations and gets quite busy.

A few spaces down from Bluegold is The Bungalow. You are transported from the shopping center into a cottage with leather couches and vintage taste. There is a bar, pool table, and different living rooms inside. Outside, there is a patio looking over Huntington Beach. With an outdoor bar, you can sit nearby a firepit and sip on your drink.

This spot is famous in Huntington Beach. The Bungalow gets busy with people bustling around the cottage. The patio fills up quickly. Depending on when you visit, there may be a DJ. We stopped in on a Thursday evening and were loving the 90’s rap.

A Hawaii favorite, Duke’s Huntington Beach delivers Polynesian cuisine with a view. Located at the entrance of the pier, you are in prime location to watch surfers in the Pacific Ocean. The Beach Trail is outside the window and allows for people watching.

The menu offers a selection of Polynesian dishes in addition to traditional American cuisine. If you are dining in for the cocktails, the tropical drinks are sure to satisfy. I always lean towards the Pina Colada and Mai Tai, but you cannot go wrong.

After walking past Philz Coffee in Pacific City, I saw a bustling of people with coffees in hand. Several people I talked to spoke highly of the iced mochas and lattes. You are in Surf City USA and are looking for things to do. There is so much to see and do in Huntington Beach. With a plethora of surf shops to browse and restaurants to try out, your trip is sure to be a memorable one.

Before You Go

Before you go to the pool and beach, make sure you come prepared! I stocked up on waterproof phone cases before my trip. Especially going paddle boarding for the first time, I was scared to get my phone wet. I wanted to take fun pictures but also not destroy my device. These cases are easy to use and have a secure clasp shut. I loved the lanyard to wrap around my neck so I would not lose my phone in the water.

2. Walk Main Street

Starting at Olive Avenue, Main Street is shut down with restaurants overflowing into the streets. You have your choice in restaurants and get to sit in the California sunshine. I did not have a chance to stop into any of these restaurants and I regret it. There is a variety in cuisines and the patios allow for outdoor dining in the Southern California weather.

Several surf shops line Main Street

There is no shortage of surf shops in Huntington Beach, from Roxy, Hurley, Van’s, and Rip Curl. As much as I loved shopping in these surf shops, I had more success in the souvenir stores.

Some of my favorite stores included Cali Clothing where, even though I did not purchase anything, I loved looking at the quirky clothing for sale. I could have easily bought everything in this store.

Another favorite store I found was Beach Island where I got my favorite new sweater: Stay Salty.

3. Go On The Pier

4. Sit At The Beach

6. Rent A Board

You are in Surf city USA so it only makes sense that you go out on the water. Whatever your skill or interest level, there is sure to be something for you.

Paddle boarding

I opted for paddle boarding since it was on my bucket list. It seemed daunting paddle boarding in the ocean for my first time so I drove to Dana Point Harbor (about 40 minutes away). Additionally, you have options to drive to Newport Beach, Seal Beach, or Long Beach to get in the water.

10 Reasons To Visit Tanner's Treehouse In Huntington Beach

Located in the heart of Huntington Beach stands a tree. Not a palm tree, though there are tons of those. Not a pine, or a cedar, either. No, this tree lights up a rooftop full of twinkle lights and bubbly patrons. Tanner’s Treehouse is a second story rooftop at the Pasea Hotel and Spa. Rooftops already have a special aesthetic, in my opinion. There is nothing like sitting over a city while enjoying a cocktail. This treehouse makes the experience a memorable one and allows for great pictures and even better times with friends. Tanner’s Treehouse in Huntington Beach should be one of the first places you visit on your trip to Surf City USA.

Disclaimer: This restaurant and bar has a strict 21+ age requirement. But have no fear. You can still dine at Tanner’s.

1. Visit Tanner’s Downstairs

Though they have similar names, Tanner’s is different from the rooftop upstairs. Located on the first floor of Pasea Hotel and Spa, this restaurant is easy to pop in and out of. It is steps from Pacific City and has both indoor and outdoor dining. The restaurant has views of Huntington Beach and Pacific Coast Highway.

Tanner’s is family friendly and easy to get in. Each time we dropped in, we were quickly seated and served. If you are planning your trip, Tanner’s accepts reservations in advance.

Now, back to the rooftop!

2. The Bar – Duh!

A shot of the treehouse bar at night

We were fortunate to visit Tanner’s Treehouse in Huntington Beach multiple times. The rooftop bar looks different in the daytime and nighttime. We first visited when we arrived at the hotel. It was late on a Tuesday night and we had the chance to see the treehouse illuminated. It was a magical start to our trip.

The view looking up from the bar

Later on during our trip, we visited during the day. This allowed us to take in the structure in a different setting. It is so unique to sit under a wicker tree on a rooftop in Huntington Beach and I never got tired of studying it and taking pictures with my drinks.

3. The View

The rooftop offers expansive views of Huntington Beach and Pacific Coast Highway. Palm trees surround you with sand and water in the foreground. The view at Tanner’s Treehouse in Huntington Beach truly spans over much of the beach area. I constantly had my head on a swivel as I looked all around, taking in the sights.

4. The Food

The Shishito Peppers
The Shishito Peppers

When we first arrived in Huntington Beach, we ordered the shishito peppers. They were the perfect amount of sweet and spicy. If you visit for Happy Hour, you can order these at a discounted price.

The Avocado Wrap with Fries

Upon stopping in for a quick cocktail, we ended up staying for hours as friends trickled in. We ordered the avocado wrap from the Happy Hour menu. This was my first vegetarian wrap and I was left wanting more. I enjoyed the French fries along with aioli sauce.

The Sliders
The Sliders

We also enjoyed the sliders from the Happy Hour menu. They were the perfect small bite to hold us over until dinner. They came with French fries. Overall, the amount of food served for Happy Hour prices was a great deal.

5. The Drinks

The Spicy Margarita with a tajin rim
The Spicy Margarita with a tajin rim

When we first arrived, all I wanted was a lemon drop. I convinced myself to try something from the cocktail menu so I ordered the Spicy Margarita. The tajin rim was the perfect cocktail to accompany the shishito peppers.

Once we sat at the bar, I knew it was time for a lemon drop. With its sugar rim complimenting the illuminated treehouse, I felt like my vacation was commencing.

A Lemon Drop Martini

When I stopped in a few days later for an afternoon cocktail, I had every intention to get a happy hour drink. My waitress was extremely attentive and wanted to make sure I ordered the perfect drink. After detailing a few of the options on the cocktail menu, she sold me on a fruity rum drink.

The Bumbu Babalu cocktail complimented the warm weather as the sun shined down on me. It was refreshing and though it was not on happy hour, it was perfect.

Do you ever get cocktail FOMO? Like, you see someone drinking a cocktail and you wish you had it? When I saw someone drinking the cucumber delight cocktail, I knew I wanted to try it. Even though I hate cucumbers on my food, I figured it would be a refreshing drink. I was right! It was not too sweet or sour and was the restoring drink I needed.

6. The Happy Hour Deals

The Happy Hour specials allow for reasonable rooftop drinking. In addition to discounted food options, there are daily drink specials. I dined on a Thursday and the Happy Hour special was an Old Fashioned for $10.

7. The Swing Chairs

The swing chairs in the corner of the rooftop

If there is not any seating around the treehouse, fear not! We loved the swing chairs in the corner of the rooftop. They are tucked back in the corner away from the bustle and noise of the bar.

8. The Fire Pits

The firepits at night

When you are in Huntington Beach, the nights might get chilly. There are multiple fire pits on the rooftop to keep you warm. If it were not for the fire pits, I would not have been able to stay so long finishing my drink. Not to mention, a roaring fire with twinkle lights are my two favorite things.

9. The Couches

The couch seating

When we visited Tanner’s Treehouse, we liked bouncing around from the bar, to the tables, and eventually to the couches. If you are going to stay for a while, this is a more comfortable way to enjoy your visit.

10. The Location

Tanner’s Treehouse is located on a second floor rooftop of the Pasea Hotel and Spa. You will enter through Tanner’s Restaurant on the first floor, which might have a similar name but is a separate space. If you get lost, simply ask the front desk (like we did!).

Located on Pacific Coast Highway, Tanner’s Treehouse is steps away from Pacific City. It is approximately 0.5 miles from the pier, so only a short walk away.

5 Reasons Pacific Hideaway in Huntington Beach is Amazing

Looking to start your day with a decadent breakfast? For all you early risers out there like me, Pacific Hideaway in Huntington beach is open earlier than most restaurants in the area. Stop in for a brunch bite after your morning workout or walk on the beach. Or, if you are like me and just nursing a slight hangover and desperately needing food.

Looking for lunch or dinner? They have that, too. Wash the sand off your feet and stop in for a cocktail during happy hour or an entrée for dinner. Regardless of what you are in the mood for, you will find enough here to satisfy your cravings. This post outlines three reasons why Pacific Hideaway in Huntington Beach is an amazing restaurant and I cannot wait to visit again.

1. The Food

The Braised Beef Tacos
The Braised Beef Tacos

I stumbled across Pacific Hideaway when I was starving and looking for breakfast spots. When I saw the pictures of the braised beef tacos, I knew I had to stop in. On the first morning of our trip, we had reservations.

Make your reservation at Pacific Hideaway on Open Table.

The braised beef tacos exceeded my expectations. Horseradish crema was drizzled on top along with cilantro lime coleslaw. I am very anti-horseradish. This dish converted me a little bit because the taste complimented the tacos well.

The Hideaway Hash Benny
The Hideaway Hash Benny

We also ordered the Hideaway Hash Benny. The coconut rice and poached egg complimented everything else in the bowl and we could not eat it fast enough. The waitress came by with their house-made bang bang sauce that we became obsessed with. I ended up putting it on all of our meals.

2. The Menu

If you are looking for mimosas or bloody mary’s to start your day, Pacific Hideaway is ready for you. The brunch menu covers everything from breakfast, cocktails, and dishes including burgers and sandwiches. 3. The Patio

The patio at Pacific Hideaway overlooks 5th Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway. There are several shops across the street and visitors walking around. The patio opens to the restaurant so you can easily walk in and out. There are umbrellas to provide shade (and even blocked us from the rain when we visited!). There are heaters should the morning or night be a chilly one.

4. The Aesthetic

Walking into Pacific Hideout in Huntington Beach maintains the seashore vibe. With neutral colors and bohemian décor, the restaurant truly is a hideaway. You do not feel like you are in the middle of a hotel overlooking 5th Avenue.

5. The Location

Pacific Hideaway is located in the Kimpton Shorebreak Resort in Huntington Beach. We got a little lost when we visited so I will tell you how to find this delightful restaurant. If your maps is anything like mine, it might lead you to an address on the corner Pacific Coast Highway and 5th Avenue. You will enter on 5th Avenue. After climbing a flight of stairs, you should be welcomed by the host stand. Even after getting lost, I was over the moon when we sat down and saw the menu.

9 Reasons Duke's Huntington Beach Is The Best Restaurant

Nestled right next to the pier lives one of the most famous restaurants in Surf City USA. It is named after none other than the famous surfer Duke Kahanamoku. This man helped Huntington Beach become famous for its competitive waves. I loved every moment of my dining experience and am excited to share why Duke’s Huntington Beach is the best restaurant.

All photos in this post are mine except otherwise indicated. This post was written based on my personal experience. I was not paid, reimbursed or otherwise solicited to write this post. Just a girl looking to share her favorite places. Cheers!

1. The Food

The Huli Huli Chicken at Duke's Huntington Beach
The Huli Huli Chicken

Even though I went to Duke’s for the cocktails, I ended up falling in love with the food. There is something about Polynesian food that captivates me. I opted for the Huli Huli Chicken which is a Hawaiian plated lunch. The Huli Huli Chicken came with grilled chicken, jasmine rice and macaroni salad. Every bite made me think I was sitting along the beaches of Hawaii.

2. The Drinks

When you go to Duke’s, you have to try their famous Mai Tai’s. It is mandatory… kind of. Treat yourself to the rum drink that has been served to beach-goers and tourists for years.

The famous Duke's Mai Tai

After my meal, I wanted a small dessert. Even though the dishes on the menu looked incredible, I knew I had to try a Pina Colada before leaving. This was hands down the best Pina Colada of my life (and I drink a lot of Pina Coladas!).

The Pina Colada

3. The Menu

Whether you have had Polynesian food before or it is brand new to you, you have plenty of options at Duke’s. The menu ranges from salads to burgers, with some Hawaiian lunches available.

4. The History

An interior shot of Duke's Huntington Beach

Duke’s is outfitted with different surf and Hawaiian décor. After its namesake Duke Kahanamoku, the restaurant encapsulates the tropical oasis feel of the beach while honoring traditional Polynesian dishes.

One of the most famous surfers in the world, Duke was a staple in Hawaii and California where he set records and made history in the water. It only makes sense that his legacy now lives on with tourists visiting daily.

5. The View

In addition to views of the Huntington Beach and Pier, I also loved watching the beach trail. There was no shortage of people riding by on bicycles, scooters, etc. There were many cute dogs walking around, too. I loved watching everyone enjoying their morning at the beach.

6. The Culture

The surf décor is fitting for Surf City USA

"In Hawaii we greet friends, loved ones and strangers with aloha, which means love. Aloha is the key word to the universal spirit of real hospitality which makes Hawaii renowned as the worlds center of understanding and fellowship. Aloha to you."

Duke’s is proud of its Hawaiian routes. I can attest that they practice what they preach. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. I showed up when the restaurant first opened for the day and the waiters looked genuinely thankful to work at the restaurant.

7. The Pictures

An unbeatable view of the Huntington Beach Pier from my seat
An unbeatable view of the Huntington Beach Pier from my seat

If you are going to visit Duke’s Huntington Beach, I recommend taking pictures to document your trip. My parents visited Duke’s in 1987 for their honeymoon. I think about how cool it would be if they had pictures of that day. Now that we go as a family and take our pictures, we are watching new generations visit these memorable places. I always take pictures when I visit Duke’s to someday share with my kids until they are old enough to have a Mai Tai there with me.

8. The Memories

When I am having a bad day, I dream about drinking a mai tai at Duke's

My parents visited Duke’s Waikiki in Honolulu on their honeymoon in 1987. Since then, it is required that we stop in for a mai tai. The memories at Duke’s Waikiki, and now Duke’s Huntington Beach always make me smile. During a tough day of work, I like to think about drinking a mai tai while looking over the water.

9. The Location

Located on Pacific Coast Highway, Duke’s Huntington Beach is prime location within the city. You cannot walk on the Pier without walking past Duke’s first. You are walking distance from main street and different surf shops like Billabong and Roxy. A little further down PCH is Pacific City, which offers shopping and dining with a view of the Pacific Ocean.

Before going to Huntington Beach, I had never heard of The Bungalow. If this is you, please allow me to explain. This is not your average restaurant or bar. Located in the middle of Pacific City, an oceanfront shopping center, this restaurant emulates a remodeled house from earlier times. As you plan your trip to Surf City, be sure to check out The Bungalow in Huntington Beach and enjoy a glass of wine overlooking the ocean.

The Patio at The Bungalow

When you walk in, you are met with the smell of rich leather and vintage décor. Wooden beams line the ceilings and leather chairs welcome visitors. There is a main bar inside the home before walking onto the patio. Outside, overlooking Huntington Beach, is a bar complete with couches, fire pits and heaters. String lights twinkle overhead as you are transported into an oasis.

The Bungalow is a 21 and over spot so you know what is bound to happen here. Some nights there are DJs and get crazier than others.

The dark aesthetic inside The Bungalow sets the scene for a relaxing drink at the beach. With different rooms inside the home with leather couches and a pool table, you and your friends can find a corner that fits your vibe.

As much as we loved sitting inside, we made our way to the patio. Overlooking palm trees and the setting sun was necessary to complete our trip to the beach. Even though it was a Thursday night, the DJ was playing 90’s Tupac and Biggie so were couldn’t have been any happier.

5 Reasons Bluegold Is An Amazing Restaurant in Huntington Beach

Bluegold might not be a famous restaurant, but that does not mean it is not worth checking out. Bluegold serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. In fact, they were the last restaurant serving food in Pacific City. We loved every dish and even enjoyed a few cocktails at the bar. With the prime beachfront location and the exquisite menu, Bluegold is a must-try restaurant in Huntington Beach.

1. The Food

The breakfast burrito with chorizo, egg and onions smothered in salsa guajillo
The breakfast burrito with chorizo, egg and onions smothered in salsa guajillo

Where do I even begin? I think the pictures speak for themselves. Looking at the menu, please do not think this is your average breakfast burrito. Rather, this is smothered in sauce and loaded with grilled onions and chorizo.

The classic benedict with english muffins, bacon, poached eggs, and the ever incredible hollandaise sauce
The classic benedict with english muffins, bacon, poached eggs, and the ever incredible hollandaise sauce

Eggs benedict are always a good choice when trying out a new restaurant. I cannot confirm this, but I think the english muffin was made in-house. I have never had bread melt in my mouth the way that did. The poached eggs, bacon and hollandaise sauce was the perfect combination and was not overly filling (unlike the burrito!).

Oysters, french fries, and my favorite lemon drop
Oysters, french fries, and my favorite lemon drop

There were several nights we walked through Pacific City looking for restaurants still serving food. We stumbled into Bluegold whose kitchen was still open. We splurged on oysters, mushroom risotto, french fries, and cocktails. It was the perfect late night meal.

2. The Drinks

Enjoying a coffee and Baileys with a view
Enjoying a coffee and Baileys with a view

To start the day, I always opt for coffee and Bailey’s. It was a foggy morning in Huntington Beach and sipping the java with the beach in the background revitalized my day.

When we stopped in for a late dinner, we loaded up on cocktails. I had a few lemon drops with Tito’s. Sitting in the bar area eating our late night bites, we enjoyed the many cocktails we ordered.

3. The View

When we made a reservation for the Bluegold in Huntington Beach, I wanted to ensure I got a beach view. Since we arrived right when the restaurant opened, we were able to pick our table. There is not a bad seat in the house when this view is beside you.

4. The Aesthetic

Bluegold is very much a beach vibe. With wall to wall windows of waterfront views, you are constantly reminded of the beach. Bluegold also offers a bar area which was fun for our group looking to have a cocktail and some bites. There is also an outdoor patio that looks out over Pacific City.

1. The Views

Our room faced the south so we looked out over Huntington Beach and Pacific Coast Highway. For being right next to this busy road, it was not loud whatsoever. The palm trees surrounded our view.

A photo taken from our balcony at Paséa Hotel and Spa

At night, the parking lots were illuminated so we could watch the calm Pacific Coast Highway. One of the best ways we relaxed on our patio was watching the flights descend into LAX. We are avid FlightAware fans and love to guess where the plan is coming and going. There were flights from all over the world, including Seoul, Guatemala and New York. Even more exciting was looking at the shining stars. Some nights it is too smoggy to see stars anymore but our view allowed us to watch the sky shine above.

If you look closely you can see the stars

In addition to the incredible views of Huntington Beach, we also had the entire city beneath us. On clear days, we could see the city of Irvine.

Huntington Beach is dubbed Surf City USA. Everything about the Pasea Hotel and Spa emulates this. When you check in, you will get a room key in the shape of a surf board.

If a hotel has a Peloton bike, I am sure to drop in. It is a great way to kickstart my vacation. I was stressed out about wearing a bikini in front of people at the pool so I hit the gym hard.

The fitness center also includes weight machines, kettle bells, and cable machines. The variety in the machines was refreshing since my fiancée and I have different preferences when working out.

The water bearing rowing machine is my all time favorite workout machine. The fact that Pasea had two of them sent me into workout heaven.

4. Aarna Spa

The Aarna Spa is located at the entrance of the fitness center. You will smell the essential oils before you see it. Complete with spa packages and a small store for shopping, the Aarna Spa has it all.

One thing I learned during our stay is the usage of the sauna. You must have a spa treatment in order to gain access to the sauna.

5. Blend Café

The Blend Cafe is perfect for on-the-go food. Each morning, I stopped in for a quick coffee.

The cafe also serves some on-the-go food. I was nursing a slight hangover and was desperate for food. The breakfast burrito did the job until I could eat a full meal.

6. Tanner’s

A Bloody Mary for breakfast at Tanner’s

Tanner’s is the restaurant located downstairs in the hotel. It is centrally located with an entrance from Pacific City for visitors and is right next to the pool for guests. This is not your typical hotel restaurant that “just gets the job done”. You can stop in to eat and drink at Tanner’s. We dropped in a few different times in between meals and when meeting up with friends arriving at the hotel.

Make your reservation at Tanner’s now on Open Table.

7. Tanner’s Treehouse

Hold on to your beer because I am about to rave about this Treehouse. Located just above Tanner’s, the Treehouse by Tanner’s is on a second floor rooftop at the Pasea Hotel and Spa. Having a drink on this rooftop was the number one thing to do on my Huntington Beach vacation. We stopped in a couple different times, each time trying a different cocktail and appetizer while watching the sunset.

Tanner’s Treehouse does not currently take reservations so be sure to stop in when you can! PS. The Treehouse is a 21 and over spot.

8. The Pool

Whether you are staying at the hotel or are just looking for a rooftop pool to hang out at, the Pasea Hotel and Spa is for you. With a DJ every Saturday and Sunday, this is sure to be your vibe.

If you are staying at the hotel:

Lucky you, living your best life at one of my favorite hotels. There are some things I learned on my trip that were not clear when I was planning my trip.

  1. You get free flip flops to wear to the pool.
  2. There are beach towels waiting for you.
  3. You do NOT need to book a daybed (unless you want to).

I was stressing before my trip. I wanted to be secured a spot at the pool but the daybeds were $200. Upon calling the hotel, I found out that if you are a guest at the hotel, then you have a choice in loungers (pictured below). I am so glad I did not spend $200 on something I was already getting for free!

If you are not staying at the hotel:

You can still visit the hotel pool! You will have to buy a daybed or cabana for the day. Daybeds range around $200+ depending on the day of the week. Cabanas are around $500 – $750+ depending on the day.

Book your daybed or cabana HERE.

9. Ninth Island Pool Bar

I laid by the pool on a Wednesday afternoon, so keep in mind there was not a DJ or an abundance of people. Staff runs around to your lounge chair to get your order. You can order from the menu when they swing by so you never have to get up. You can also step up to the bar and order. Prices are pretty steep but you are paying for the view and experience.

See the Ninth Island Pool Bar menu HERE.

The lobby area welcomes you in neutral beach tones with rattan chairs and a view of the pool. You are teleported from your car into a tropical paradise where the beach is around the corner and a fruity cocktail is only moments away.

11. The Exterior

The Pasea Hotel and Spa is eight stores tall and is one of the visible resorts when driving down Pacific Coast Highway. It is recognizable by the digital board and the balconies. From a distance, you may also be able to see Tanner’s and the treehouse.

12. The Rooms

The hotel spared no expense in making the rooms one you will never forget. Complete with creative tones to compliment the surrounding beach, the rooms further the beach experience. The bathroom features a shower that, if you open the sliding doors, has views outside. It made our experience memorable to have a continuous view outside so we could soak up the beach every chance we could get.

To start your day is the Keurig coffee machine. Making my own coffee every morning was clutch to starting the day. To end our day, we had easy access to a full mini-bar set up to enjoy a bottle of wine.

To conclude your day at the pool are two robes waiting for you. I did not have a chance to cuddle up in them, so I need you to tell me how comfortable they are!

13. The Free Stuff

The room comes with a wine opener so it is only fair that a bottle of wine accompanies it. When we opened the mini fridge, we saw the complimentary bottle of white wine. Along with the chilled libation are two bottles of Italian water which get replenished each day by housekeeping, if needed.

Hopefully you are planning on visiting the pool or the beach. There are flip flops awaiting you. These came in very handy so I did not have to get my Birkenstocks wet at the pool. (I did not pack very well!)

14. The Beach Supplies

I did not have a chance to take advantage of this offering, unfortunately. The hotel has all of your beach necessities you can borrow for your short walk to the water. According to their website, the hotel offers the following complimentary beach amenities:

  1. Beach towels
  2. Umbrellas
  3. Beach chairs
  4. Bikes, Scooters, and Electric Cruisers

Before You Get In The Water

Before you go to the pool and beach, make sure you come prepared! I stocked up on waterproof phone cases before my trip. Especially going paddle boarding for the first time, I was scared to get my phone wet. I wanted to take fun pictures but also not destroy my device. These cases are easy to use and have a secure clasp shut. I loved the lanyard to wrap around my neck so I would not lose my phone in the water.

During our trip to Huntington Beach, we were still working for the most part. The balcony comes complete with two chairs and a small table. It was perfect for positing up with a laptop and working with a view. Whether your room faces the north or south, you can take in the view and the bustling streets below you.

16. The Dog Run

For you, it is the Pasea. For your furry friend, its the Paw-sea. See what they did there? The hotel is dog friendly and has certain amenities for your pup.

Just outside of Tanner’s as you walk to Pacific City next door, you will see the stylish dog run. The artificial turf and sand give your pup the same beach vibe. The miniature lifeguard stand had me obsessed and wishing we had brought our dog.

If you are from California, then you know anything on Pacific Coast Highway is going to be amazing. Right along the Pacific Ocean, you take PCH (as Californians like to call it) right to the hotel.

The hotel is next to Pacific City. This indoor / outdoor shopping center offers a selection of waterfront restaurants and shops. It is a great way to spend an afternoon, and I walked away with bags full of cute clothes.
